This is an outdoor festival featuring multiple stages with multiple live bands playing all day from 11AM to 11PM - Plus the Bar Crawler Olympics, Kids Fun, great food, beer and wine, and much more!
This is the largest music festival in the Mid-Shore area and it's for a great cause - to help our country's service men & women! Parking will be across the street at Matapeake School Complex and transportation to and from will also be provided. Get there early - Last year we had over 4000 people at Island Bay Day.
The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veteran’s service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvements in the legislation process. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to their community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands not behind politics, but the issues and people that institute progress by focusing on veteran’s rights and quality of life.
The American Legion’s success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves and the communities in which it thrives.
Kent Island American Legion Post 278 embodies everything that the American Legion stands for. Our programs within the Legion are all geared to ensuring our local veterans and our community benefit from everything we do. Post 278 has been a productive member of Kent Island since 1956. For over 55 years we have actively supported our community and have donated well over 15 million dollars back into our community which averages more or less 200K a year. Even through hard economic times the Legion has always come through for the Kent Island and surrounding communities. Mutual Helpfulness are not just words to Legionnaires; it’s a way of life for us.
We are excited that we are able to offer our venue once again for the 5th Annual Island Bay Day. We were proud hosts last year, and even more excited this year knowing that all the monies raised this year will be spread across our community ensuring that the many organizations who depend on our charitable donations will be able to continue to do their good works once again!
On behalf the American Legion, Post 278, we thank you for being part of Island Bay Day 2011, your contributions to this event will be appreciated community wide.
